I'm from Brazil, and I have a T2I with a 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 and a 50mm f1.4.
I'm planning to film my father's fireworks at new year's eve.
I loved the exposure that you got in this move, and I did some math to get the same exposure with my 18-135mm, and that would be 1/40s f4.0 iso 1600.
Would that be correct?
I'm not planning to use my 50mm, because with a crop sensor, the action would be to close.

@ripousse There is tool called ptool that can hack GH1 for high bit rates, that made that camera awesome for videos...
