Dont be racist. I'm Japanese and I see no reason to dislike or make the Koreans feel shame for wanting to be like the Japanese. I, personally, am not the biggest fan of the Koreans (I blame North Korea for that), however, Korea should not feel shame for liking the Samurai.

ok for everyone that is nit picking the way he wears his uniform, there is no one right way to wear the uniform, every school has their own way of wearing the Keikogi and Hakama, some schools tie the Hakama different ways then others. While one way might be more traditional than another it does not mean that it is right and the other is wrong, it just means that its one of the little idiosyncracies of that school and no matter what...just tie it the way your sensei tells you to tie it

thank you!!! this video helped me a lot!!! :3

no matter what you wear the sword blade up. i study in Iaido and i have experiance. the quote you fight like you train means everything you wear the sword edge up when you train. so you wear it edge up when you fight in traditional samurai plate armor

@rctsos the claims and suggestions made by the haidong gumdo associations are not official at all. in fact its treated like recreational sport like jazz dancing other than a traditional martial art!! we all know that its only about 2 decades old since it was first created by a korean celebrity and i dont think that one person represents the whole remark of korea and its people. shame on u for making such comments! u ignorant fool!
A silly question: why is the katana (daito) so "diagonal" when you put it on the hakama? Shouldn't it be flatter (parallel to the floor)?
Maybe I'm wrong, but anyways, very helpful vid. I hope I'll get a hakama pretty soon, so I get to know how to put it on.

i'm not expert or soemone who study japanese history/culture.
i dont know why, but from what i know.
i think what you ment is the old day military style of wearing katana they have something special to be attached to their armour i guess. and they hold the katana handle which become parallel to the ground
for personal or maybe warrior without armour(with Gi and hakama maybe) they wear katana inside their belt. and the belt is parallel already. so your sword wont be parallel no matter wat

but! its good that its not parallel. cuz it save space. so you wont be hitting anything /anyone with your blade case while you are walking and or turning.
you might be sliced in half if you do hit someone in the old day hahahaha just joking

That's pretty accurate, despite not studying Japanese history. The sword was worn edge down while in armor (regardless of being a katana or tachi) because of how the chest plate bulged; it was really a necessity of comfort so you don't have a piece of curved wood smacking you in the stomach as you ride your horse. In addition, it kept you from your saya caught between your legs as you mounted and dismounted. Also, it was tied to the belt tightly so the sword could be drawn with one hand.

I will be getting my first kendogi hakame set within a few days, can't wait to try it on ^^ I know that the way you put your one on is not the "right" way, but it is a very good rough example to give you the right direction ^^

i would say, there's no such thing as right way or wrong way.
yeah there might be a traditional way.
but whatever work for you, comfortable, easy, time saving and doesnt disturb you during daily practice, that would be the right way for you.
