This is the first water test of OpenROV 2.2, conducted on January 16, 2012 at the Stevens Creek Reservoir in Cupertino, CA. This initial test was simply to examine the power of the thrusters so no ballast was attached to the front mounting bar (hence the 'porpoising' behavior during forward movement). For simplicity, no on board camera was used, and control was done using a simple RC controller and a wire tether that could carry RF energy down to the ROV through the water. A second video has been posted of the ROV operating after rudimentary ballast had been added, but this one is a lot more fun to watch!
