Thanks I've followed your instructions. The drive I have installed is a Hitachi 250GB Travelstar. Unfortunately the write speed is in the region of kb/s not mb/s. How do I speed it up -- any ideas?

Is that a special size SATA HDD, like in inches? I have an HDD that came from an old laptop. It says ATA/IDE, I guess that will not work, huh?

how many GB this hard drive has?

No idea why access is that slow. The controller should be able to support much faster than that.

Can I also add SATA2 HDDs or are they different ?
Is there a limit to the HHD's speed - can I use both 5400 and 7200 RPM ?

Thanks Efi4ltis!
For most of the dv9000 series, you will have to slow a 3.0Gb/s SATA drive down to 1.5Gb/s.
