On July 20, 2009, Human Genome Sciences (HGS) announced positive results from a year-long clinical trial of BENLYSTA for treating lupus. When the 52-week study concluded, the lupus patients who were treated with BENLYSTA had improvement in overall disease activity without clinically significant flare-ups in one or more isolated organs when compared to patients who received the placebo.
To mark this historic day, Sandra C. Raymond, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Lupus Foundation of America (LFA), issued a videotaped statement, which celebrates this milestone

Too bad this medicine was just released, my girl has lupus and anyone with lupus know that it's next to impossible to obtain health insurance. To make things worse, it costs $40,000 a year. That's the price of going to college. So basically only extremely rich people can afford it. To put things into perspective, My girl takes about 7 or 8 pills every day to keep all the symptoms down. One of the meds is used to treat malaria, another to treat organ donors so they wont reject kidneys. Cheaper.

How would one go about attempting to participate in the clinical study? I'm desperate & don't want to wait another year or two.
