This 'lost single' from early Spring 1984,was released after the "Get out and Walk" album. But it did not appear on the 2nd and final album "With these hands." (It came out during the period between the 2 albums' tracks.)
Baz would announce it at gigs by saying that it wasn't getting airplay, due to the BBC ban "because of the 2nd word..either that or it's a sh** record"
This "Big version" is the extended 12 inch mix, which wasn't eligible for the charts in those days.According to the Guinness Book of Hit Singles this song didn't enter the Top 75 - and therefore never charted

  • Great stuff mate, thanks for uploading this.

  • @spuddy83 It's my absolute pleasure, mate.I'm thrilled that you enjoyed it.Thanks very much for stopping by,and for taking the time to post

  • 'May the road rise up to meet you', ucfbtm. I look forward to hearing them! Big time peachy - thanks!

  • What a lovely blessing - thankyou dearly.I sincerely wish you the same.(Coincidentally it already happens when I'm cycling - which is not such a good thing! :) )

Sorry for the confusion - "this" is what i have already shared.Actually 'Uncle Freddie' is an instrumental - in fact it is VERY Shadows-like.(Sweet twangy guitar sound with some jaunty keyboard at the end refrain after some brief brass. But definitely lacking without Baz vocals).

  • Thanks ucfbtm, great to hear this! What were the B side tracks; Any chance of putting them up?

  • My pleasure to share this.

The B Side has 'Uncle Freddie' as track 1 and the 7 inch mix of 'Apparently' as track 2. Obviously,i think the extended mix is better, but it's very similar - just longer :)

  • I bought this when it came out along with both albums & a couple of singles. Saw them at the hammersmith palais in 83. Still think more than a dream is the best. Still have a tape of kid jenson interview from radio 1 when for you was released. Let's go & hoist a few!

  • @ucfbtm I was joking about morrssey I think - his influences were Cilla Black et al

  • I think it was salford polly I saw them - a band called 'the gents' were in support i believe. Pils were 50p a bottle that night so I was stupid drunk

  • It would still be great to hear both 'Uncle Freddie' and the 7" version of the title track, if you can't upload. If you can't, no worries. Thank you again.
