Shit, I ride that line everyday.

He probablly wasn't racing the train through the crossing. What probably happened was the trailer stands used to support is when the trailer is not connected to a cab, got stuck on the rails. It's a more common event than you would think.

Can't believe it's been 3 years (almost) since this happened. Glad to see you and your wife came through OK and your baby wasn't harmed. Did the truck driver get charged? Never heard what happened.

Lots of muscle strains I'm sure and I'm sure some litigious idiots looking for a payday sued for no reasons. Ya know what...lifes tough, wear a helmet.

I was in that first car...saw that conveyor arm smashing its way through windows toward me. I stood up and kind of surfed out the impact after hearing the conductor yell BRACE as he backed up from his driving position to the vestibule. There were NO major injury's, but there easily could have been, I was expecting carnage but luckily there was none, the train never flipped into the swamp or else it would have ben a different story.

was this going inbound or outbound?

Inbound. It had just left Forge Park and wasn't even at the first stop (Franklin Dean) yet.

Response - Part II
The police, fire and rescue arrived quickly and they were friendly and helpful as well. I had to deal with the MBTA police to get my belongings back and they couldn't have been better. I imagine that the MBTA workers in the 4th car probably had no idea what had happened.
Now, dealing with MBTA corporate to get my lost train pass back was an entirely different experience. I don't even have the energy to go into it now. What a bunch of complete morons.

Response - Part I
I posted this video and as mentioned I was in the first car and my wife was injured. I have to say that from my experience the MBTA personnel was fantastic.
The conductor has repeatedly been credited with preventing further injury by jumping from his conductor's position moments before impact, risking his own self to warn others of the impending collision. The other MBTA workers on the train were very comforting.
