The deparrture of engine No. 4 in Dun Laoghaire to celebrate 175 years since the opening of the first railway in Ireland in 1834. Originally called the Dublin and Kingstown Railway (D&KR) between Dublin and Kingstown (Dún Laoghaire), a distance of 10 km.
No. 4 is the last survivor of 18 mixed traffic engines introduced in Northern Ireland between 1947 and 1950. She was in traffic until summer 1970, one of the last steam locomotives (all class WT) still in traffic at the closure of York Road Shed. These were the last main line steam locomotives in normal service in Ireland, and in the British Isles. These locomotives were popularly known as "Jeeps" on account of their ability to tackle all types of traffic, and their wide route availability.
So 19th century.
