Nice hair cut Paul, just like mine! On a serious note, of course the US doesn't want to leave Iraq, with all that blood & treasure the US has spent on Iraq. The US wants its prize, Iraq's oil and gas reserves. WIth Iraq's oil and gas reserves, the US can dictate to China, Russia, India, OPEC, and Europe.

the war itself is so far from over! it is basically un-winnable. the troops are being withdrawn because it is so unpopular, if the war was to be won you'd be there for another decade, at least! i can imagine a threat to a western country in the near future just so they can say, "look we have to stay now, there is a new enemy" that would get the public favour again. MAYBE???

@zalida100 ...Now, I've combined this possibility with me not figuring how the USA can continue its wars if the dollar falls.

I mean, if you can't pay your soldiers, they won't fight.

But, since oil is bought in dollars, if USA blocked Str of Hormuz & hence oil supplies. Oil price goes up a lot and demand for dollars goes up.

It's not a perfect theory, but Just trying to mess around with ideas.

Pres of Iran may have been attacked with a grenade last week. I dunno about that
