This is the official video from the Canadian punk band "Les Défaitistes" for their debut release, "Le Bon Combat". Wanting to show audiences the energy of their performances, the video was shot and recorded live this past January, in the bands Ottawa rehearsal space; lead singer Michel Sauvé's basement, the "Quartier Général". There are no lights, no make-up, no bullshit. Just the band, a few friends and a camera. The only part of the process that resembles traditional video making was two additional takes, shot in order to increase coverage of the performance - and even then, one guy had to go home after the 2nd take.
"Les Défaitistes: en direct du Quartier Général" features all three songs found on the EP including "Chapel Hill", "Le Traitre" and "Le Bon Combat"; all of which can be downloaded for free at http://www.myspace.com/lesdefaitistes.
The video is the second collaboration between singer Michel Sauvé and step-brother/filmmaker, Brad McGregor. The two worked together in mid-January to film two quick, no frills, live videos with zero budget. The first video, Reste Bien Sage, features Michel's solo project and can be seen at http://www.vimeo.com/8704061 .
Hope you enjoy!
