No it didn't. New England Television owner David Mugar purchased WHDH AM 850 in early 1990; hoping to create a second TV/radio duopoly with his properties for the Boston market (much like WBZ-AM/TV), he decided to change WNEV-TV's call letters to WHDH-TV for correspondence. The switch took effect on 3/19/90, on purpose, because that was the anniversary date of the last time the WHDH calls were used on Boston TV - on Ch. 5.
The station did not become WHDH until later that season, in March 1990. If you note the director's slide in front of John Dennis, you see "WNEV 7" lettering on it.
I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of WNEV-TV's Get Ready For Channel 7 Video Promo From Late 1989.

WNEV became WHDH in 1990, Sunbeam made the purchase in 1993, and the Sunbeam graphics premiered in January 1994.
