  • Hey!~good technique, love your vids . I am a student of Sifu Steve Cottrell in Ft Worth, tx. youve probably heard of him, hes a pretty popular guy in the Mantis world. but just in case you havent, he was a long time student of Brendan lai. Anyways, i was just curious, when i do this technique i always quickly step into a 7 star stance, and keep it there, rather than actually sweep. and it still has the same effect. -them stumbling and falling. anyway, let me know what you think

  • @dynastyJAM Using only the upper body (centerline/waist chopping/etc) attack in conjunction with a seven star trapping stance behind the front leg definitely works; however, I've found that using the sweep produces a far more dynamic and effective uprooting of the opponent. Yours is definitely not a wrong answer however, and can and will work. Thanks for commenting.

  • @BeybladeBrawls and then??? lol. seriously though, good vid. thats just inspired me to learn kung fu. iv done ju-jitsu which is mainly about countering and thai boxing which covered the offence side abit but kung fu does seem the most effective when it comes to disabling your opponant. thanks for showing

  • Awesome move. I'm learning mantis by myself wit no teacher and my friend is dummy for me to practice move on and i teach him how to block through dvd. We start of slowly getting movements and wat to do down and try it then and then i practice the hits in that motion on a punching bag and then work with speed of move and then use pads for acurracy. is this a good way to practice?

  • @MartialSkillDotCom o ok, haha yea i just rewatched it and noticed you mentioned the trapping. anyway thanks for the quick response. looking forward to some new uploads

  • Hello Sifu I am in sweden right now I always enjoy watching your video I'm from the otherside of the fence the Chiu Leun side and i teach my student this technique a little bit different i tell the student after clearing the elbow the next move is a stright line attack then a waist chopping action (i notice saying the waist chop usually confuse the student) but i do have a better way to explain the waist chopping action from a chinese point of view thank you so much for keeping own 7 star alive
