Dame Kiri Te kanawa sings "tu la mia stella sei" (Giulio Cesar)

Contemporary and baroque styles interweave in this performance fantasy featuring the music of George Frideric Handel and the beautiful and powerful voice of Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. The warring forces of good and evil and the power of romantic love are expressed through music, song, dance and gesture in this stylish and imaginative blend of stage drama and rock video.

  • What would be useful would be if you could number the order of the songs to give some sort of continuity to the plot, I love this fantasy romp through the music of Handel.

  • Followed your suggestion and numbered the clips. Theres also a playlist with the clips in order ;)

  • is she lip-synching?

  • no. she's actually singing.

  • ok. it looks like this was filmed for television or video, so i didnt know if they would have them sing live on the soundstage, or record it in the studio like in movies. thank you

  • It is a tv production but I believe it was singing live. I say this for 2 reasons:

    1 -- I've got the cd and one can note some light differences in some of the arias;

2 -- For what I could see so far, Dame Kiri is not very good at lip-synching , one could notice.

  • LOVE THIS!!!

I recorded this on VHS many years ago when it was on television around X-mas.

But I rerecorded the tape on accident, so I lost it!!!

I have been in many shop with classicalmusic but there is no DVD!!!!! How is this possible????

    Please put this on DVD!!!

  • @paulotomaso She's obviuosly lip-synching, but she's obiously dubbing her own voice, you have to do so when filming for tv or the movies

  • t was a production record for the philips cd of that time.

She is singing live on tape, and the tape has bin used for the scene recording.

I did make-up for it with 2 other colleagues.

About the hair it's a wig.

  • Ravishing.

  • You are quite right marascar, the Sorceress was a project in the early 90's whereby certain arias from the operas of Handel were put together to form a new "plot".

  • I thought this was from "Giulio Caesare"...is that right?
