During Daytona Bike Week, I was given the opportunity by Harley Davidson to learn how to pick up a motorcycle on my own. Although I have tipped my Heritage Softtail a couple of times in the learning stages, I didn't think I would be able to lift one up! But I agreed to do it because I thought it would be a good thing to learn, just in case it happens again. The instructor was great in showing me how to do it, using the muscles of your legs instead of your back. Of course, the first thing you need to do is kill the motor and then put down the kick stand. Push with your legs, get the bike about half way up, then readjust further down in the seat and continue pushing. It was fairly easy and was very impowering to know that I could lift one up if I should get in a jam.

  • "wow that was crazy!" lol....do you ride motorcycles or just get your kicks off picking them up?

  • Interesting. Never thought of that. My worry would be if you juuuust pushed back that tiny bit too far once the bike was up.....and yeah the kick only works on one side.

  • @TheBardicDruid BINGO

  • What if it was tipped on the left side?
