Thats a bunch of BS. The government wouldn't just crush a perfectly usable car. They would probably just sell it at a police auction. They would lose too much money by not recouping the money spent on towing.

It goes to show how greedy the government is!
-
I wish my car could do this, then unfold itself. :)

Ah, but there's the rub! The government wants to ban smoking, but doesn't want to lose £6bn a year in revenue. You can't have it both ways. The government makes a fortune in road tax, MOT licences, VAT on car insurance parking fees and fuel duty, not to mention all the various road-related fines and speed cameras. They LOVE cars! It's a licence to print money!

@tryptychUK As far as that goes....lets take a look at the efficiently ran governments around that world see what they are.......oh wait there aren't any efficiently ran governments.
Well maybe their are some long term thinking....no politicians are only elected for a set number of years so they only care about what happens in the short term.
Auction the cars off? The government doesn't want you driving a car that is part of the whole reason for the tax because it is bad for the environment.

All this bullshit by the government about waste and saving the environment, yet they crush perfectly good cars. Why can they not be auctioned off to make revenue?
I think it is obscenely wasteful and short-sighted.
-
Just another example as to how government is akin to organized crime....

don't forget now folks :
you don't even own your own car
yeah the one you paid £000's for & sits outside rusting away, that one yeah you don't even own it ;)
don't think I'm taking the piss, go check for yourself
I'll give you two clues (raging clues) :
"documents" & "registered keeper"
I think you need a law dictionary to checkout "owner" & "keeper" because the government owns your car & you paid for it & keep it running
do you think they are laughing at you? I do
I sold my car lol :)

booohooohooo i've got to give the government MONEY and all they do with it is provide healthcare, give our children an education, put out fires, maintain the roads, keep the streets safe... you've got a problem with it? move to Somalia. have a party.
I think these ads (and similar ones by whoever enforces BBC TV licence fees) are contr-productive and ultimately will turn people (even the law-abiding who pay all their taxes) against this constant harranguing and its dark threatening tone.
We keep being told that 'it's in the database'. If that's true they know who they're looking for so why don't they just get out there and find them and leave the rest of us alone?
We don't need this on our TV screens. It's unsettling and uneccesary.

Ah, nice to see the happy-face mask slip and see that government is not your friend, it's just another protection racket.
