Iris, Hank & Tommy Chat--Iris Asks to Speak to Kelsey

Iris goes to Tommy's room to surprise him with an autographed poster of Dean Frame, but Tommy's not there because he's getting a new IV line put in. Hank is there, though, and Iris asks if she can wait with Hank. He agrees, and assures her that it's okay that she brought Tommy the poster of Dean. They talk about Tommy a bit, and about Dean's visit to Tommy, and then Iris says she's glad Hank came with her to The Tuxedo Club. Hank says he had a good time--for a place with velvet wallpaper. Iris says she had a good time too. Hank says maybe they should do it again sometime, which surprises Iris because he hasn't exactly been friendly to her in the past. Hank says they should take a break from the hospital once in a while, and since they do see eye to eye about Tommy, they'd have something to talk about. Smiling, Iris asks when Hank thinks they should take this break, and Hank suggests tonight, saying he'll pop for a beer. Tommy, who was lurking outside long enough to hear his dad ask Iris to go out for a beer, makes his presence known then and enters the room, greeting his dad and I.W. Tommy loves the poster of Dean. Hank puts it up on the wall, and Tommy thanks both Iris and Hank. Hank then thanks Iris for getting Dean the poster. Iris assures them that's all right. Then she hugs Tommy. Tommy's disappointed when Iris has to be going, but she has things to do, although she promises to be back in a couple of hours and says maybe they could see each other then, though she's looking at Hank when she adds that part.

After Iris leaves, Tommy and Hank reminisce about building model cars together, and then Tommy asks Hank if he's lonely now that Tommy's mom is gone and confesses that he heard Hank asking I.W. out for a date. Hank insists it's not a date; he asked her out to thank her for being nice to Tommy, who's a handful. Tommy tells Hank that I.W. has a boyfriend. Hank reminds Tommy that he's met I.W.'s boyfriend, the rich guy in the fancy suits, but then he adds that she told Hank they broke up. Tommy insists that whenever I.W. tells him stories about superheroes, she's talking about Spencer. Hank assures his son that he's not looking for a girlfriend, but even if he was, it wouldn't be I.W. Tommy says that's good, because he doesn't want Hank to find somebody he really likes and be left alone all over again. Hank tells Tommy not to worry about him, okay? Right now, it's just Tommy and Hank, and that's all Hank needs, and then they high-five.

Meanwhile, Iris calls Kelsey out of an exam room to ask to speak with her when Kelsey is free. Kelsey is with a patient right now, but says she'll page Iris in about half an hour. Both women know what this is about, and Iris says she'll see Kelsey later, and Kelsey returns to the exam room after Iris leaves. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.
