Hearing Loss is the number one birth defect in America. For 140 years, the Clarke School for the Deaf has taught deaf children to speak. Alexander Graham Bell, Grace and Calvin Coolidge and many friends throughout the years have helped the school grow. Today, Clarke has five schools serving more than 500 children and touches the lives of 10,000 people annually through research, curriculum, development and teachers trained in the Smith College/ Clarke Graduate Teacher Education Program.
Clarke students graduate from high school and college and proudly speak for themselves. They pursue a full range of careers and are active in their communities.
A Sound Future: Clarke's Campaign for Deaf Children seeks to meet the high demand for our services and programs so that all deaf children can have a voice in their future. These children are learning to listen, talk, and even sing.
