what is this? are you sure this is a high school group? my middle school group sounded more mature. work on tall vowels more.
-
nasally. i'm singing this in my womens choir. it's freshman & sophmore. we sound more mature than you guys.
-
Too bright, too strident. At times it sounds more like Sacred Harp than Madrigal. And that's beautiful, but that's not the genre.

I'd only heard the Kings Singers before this, and I found this choir to do a really fine job of it. Certainly not recorded as well as the studio recording I'm accustomed to, so you're not hearing the balance especially in those luscious inner harmonies quite as well, but all in all a performance they should all be proud of.

its well done and everyone knows their parts. i think the main thing that people have a problem with is just overall, what the director chose to do with the piece itself in terms of the speed of the song, the vowels on "day", and the sudden cut offs at the end. a lot of high school choirs choose to do this piece, and they all have their own way doing it. Obviously, tho, the choir was focused. well done.

the endign was fastt and the weird time is runing OUT kinda scared me. and there wasnt much direction in the phrases

Its too bright and and its definitely too fast. all poor representation of the director.
-
I really beg to differ. This group's technique is very amateurish at best and i don't blame them, i blame the director for not correcting these simple imperfections. How can Unification of the vowels and dictation be overlooked? Especially with a King Singers piece. Im sorry this is a poor representation of the director and his skills.

Dombrow is the best choir director. Period.
It wasn't right. The speed was off, the sound was nasally, and the vowels needed a lot of work.
