This is my great-grandfather's '46 International Harvester I-4 that he bought new. My grandfather received it when my great-grandfather passed away, and my grandfather gave it to me a few weeks ago. I've been working on it and got it to run for the first time in 15 years the day before I took this video. It runs great and is a blast to drive.
Work done so far: plugs, wires, coil, distributor cap, rotor, filed the points, tightened the belts, lubed everything, and rebuilt the carb.
Upcoming work to date: rewire entire tractor, new front tires, all new gauges, new seat and fab new seat hanger bracket.
Thanks for watching and comment if you like it!
Good tractor to restore, it has the same engine and many components as the Farmall H.
My grandfather had a 1944 W-4 which was very similar to yours.
The W-4 was the "wheatland" model.
The I-4 was the industrial model, although a lot ended up on farms. There was an O-4 orchard model with a special streamlined cowling to make it slip through branches without snaggiing!
All great tractors!

Lucky you! It is hard enough to find a good tractor let alone made in the U.S.A. for under 7-10 thousand and it was given to you. Maybe you can pass that to you Grand Children one of these years as well. Good Luck.
