A 150-acre fire thought contained Monday at noon, erupted to an estimated 1,000 to 2,000 acres by 5 p.m. and threatened homes along Sandpit Road north of Cassel. The blaze is named the Venture Fire. "It made a significant run this afternoon with high temperatures and low humidity," said a Cal Fire spokeswoman. Hundreds of fires are burning throughout central and northern California, leaving few firefighters and other resources to battle the flames. All local fires are the result of Saturday lightning storms. More thunderstorms are predicted for Saturday. Video by Cody Wagner and Craig Harrington. Editing by Cody Wagner

I hear ya, I'm in Ukiah and it's beyond rediculous just to try to breath going from the house to the car. the majestic mountains to the west of us, at times, are completely hidden by smoke. I have bronchittus at the moment and it's been really hard on my lungs. Hope it'll lighten up soon!
