So the guitar I used for this was given to me in 2002ish as a birthday present. Made by Renaissance a Korean guitar company (that I have never been able to find any information about) sometime in 1995-7 supposedly it cost around 300$CAN. I think it sounds pretty good considering all it's been through. Including wild climate changes three owners and "someone" *cough*me*cough* scratching their initials into the pick-guard during an S.R.V. phase.

The David Essig song via the Don Ross arrangement that will be on my demo CD, I may post a slightly more embellished version later. Recorded Saturday February 10th 2007 at the Maison De L'amitie in Montreal.

Cheers
Steve.

  • great cover dude. im actually learning this now. judging from this vid and your original piece you posted, i would say we have similar taste in playing. im having a hell of a time getting this to flow together tho. the quick 2h4p2p0 lick is throwing my timing off. any tips/pointers on learning this tune?

  • Hey Mitch,

I would recommend trying to play the part you are having trouble with as slow as you can but try to keep the timing the same so instead of doing it full speed just slow it down but keep the same rythm...

I hope it's coming along for you.

    All the best.

    Steve

  • Steve,

You guitar sounds fine. YOU sound great. Don't ever worry about the price of your gear. If you play well enough (and you do) ANY guitar that is in tune and plays in tune will sound good.

    My $0.02,

    John ( ,o)====:::

  • Thanks for the encouragement John, glad you liked the video. I'm actually going to be uploading a new version of this song that I recorded with some better gear,(AKG Condenser Mic, and my Larrivee) in a few days. Along with some other stuff that I have been working on.

    Cheers

    Steve.

  • Thats beutiful whats this song called.

You deserve a nice Gibson Humming Bird!

  • Actually I now have a Larrivee. But a Hummingbird would be nice as well.

    Thanks.
