I LOVE THIS CLIP. It's so excellent to hear Marilyn McCoo doing a duet with Jerry Reed. Here they sing the theme from Smokey and the Bandit, "East Bound and Down" on SOLID GOLD, circa 1981-82. Listen carefully at 1:48... Who would have ever thought you'd hear Marilyn wail... "Ol Smokey's got some ears on, and he's hot on your trail... you gotta dodge 'em you gotta duck 'em, you gotta keep that diesel truckin'...", and sounding SO great!? Hope my fellow McCoo fans enjoy it... Arranged and produced by Solid Gold's musical director, Michael Miller.

  • Thank you thank you mccoofan for giving us back this marvelous moment from our past, because it is exhirlating to see two such disparate artists willingly step so far outside their boundaries to take such a risk on this collaboration. The result is history: talent rules!!

  • "Country-fried Marilyn" --- who'd-a thunk it? :-D That has to be one of the reasons she stayed with the Solid Gold gig for so long, the chance to "stretch" and do "unexpected" things (at least, for her). Excellent guitar solo by Jerry, too!

  • IS SHE HALF NIG?

  • This then-improbable pairing of Jerry Reed & Marilyn McCoo pairing wouldn't be unusual whatsoever in today's music climate.

  • @rawcer This is why You Tube is so cool:)

  • That woman can sing with anyone!

  • Love Jerry Reed. All of his music. Rest in peace Jerry.

  • My favorite version of the song and always my favorite guitar solo starting at about 1:04 and he does the whole thing while having fun performing live. I mean just look at what he does at 1:25 to 1:26 folks LIVE, those are perfect 1/64th notes because he plays 32 notes in two beats having fun, jumping around playing live! His fingers just knock them out with perfection like it was nothing an no pressure to do it flawlessly live. Reed really was the Guitar Man that the King of Rock sang about.

  • What great talents and entertainment.

  • dont like her singing much, but jerry is awesome as always. Nice duet tho

  • Like my daddy said, " The only thing better than a crawfish dinner if five crawfish dinners!"

  • jerry, you suave sonof a bitch lol
