After about 2 and a 1/2 hours getting used to the R1. Still a bit off the pace of my east course personal best with the Mille but things are looking promising for some hefty lap time reductions thanks to warp speed on the straights and the fact that the '04 Yamaha feels lighter, or at least easier to flick around, than my '00 Mille

  • Wayhay! Good riding again dude, whilst feeling personally insulted youve chopped in your Mille (I too have a 2000 RSV) still nice to see youre enjoying Suzuka. Ive just taken mine to Donington and also to Silverstone this year. Though also must admit getting buzzed by I4 1000's did do me head in a bit. Good luck with it all

  • Thanks, mate. No need to feel too insulted though as I've no plans to let go of the Mille, love that bike and think I'll be racing it on the 29th of this month. Hopefully practicing on the R1 of recent will have improved my bottle for 1st corner entry and final corner (east course short cut)speeds. Should be practicing on the RSV at some point in the next couple of weeks so might be a bit more on board footage. Got a Gabro chip to install and still need to do the Evo copy airbox mod.

  • Doni and slitherstone are pretty high up on the list of "tracks I want to thrash around" so envy you there a bit. Any on board footage from your Mille on the horizon??

First few times out on the R1 I was laughing maniacally on the straights because a few years of losing, any ground made on the rest of the course, down the straights was suddenly reversed and I was able to pass most, other than the really fast guys on IL4 1000s. Still 4 seconds slower, on the R1, than my full course best by RSV

  • Thx RSV13. Was very lucky that day with the practice sessions being very underbooked. The bike definitely helps you to be smooth and it holds lines really well. New tyres going on next week so I'll have no excuses for not getting a new P.B next time out :-)) The pressure is on :-((

  • Hey, can i just say although good riding, and your lucky to be able to ride suzuka, it looks to me like your entering the corners exactly 1 gear too high, your letting the revs drop to low and then when you accelarate theirs a small delay before you get the "real" power out of the inline 4 engine, just seems to me like your riding it like your RSV, but then it's easy to judge you when i'm sat on my bed watching the video, haha good riding anyway mate.

  • nice..

  • Very smooth, beautiful lines, NO TRAFFIC!! Sweet.
