Falcon 4 Allied Force
Training mission 11: Flameout Landing
================================

But I'm not making the regular straight-in landing, I land from the other side! Try it! :-) Keep about 6 degrees AoA and you'll have enough energy. Try to make the final turn not too sharp or you will stall.

You will notice that I'm not braking on the runway. I was trying, but it didn't work. Maybe the EPU stopped running or so, but that usually doesn't happen in this training mission.

  • Nicely done,....what's the music playing in the background?

  • @q7guy tnx :-) The music title is in the video description.

  • Now I can never seem to find this game. Is it freeware, payware or something. In a nutshell where can I get it?

  • @pjt

    The original Falcon 4 was released back in 1998. This version, Falcon 4.0 Allied Force (or AF for short) was released in 2005, so yeah you probably won't find it in most pc stores anymore. Some still sell it. However there are lots of online stores that still sell it. If you search for "falcon allied force" at Amazon for example you'll see that you can get it for only $19.99.

  • @pjt You can download FreeFalcon, as the name suggests it is free and you dont need the original CD at all. Google it

  • Ok it was gear but does the same thing. But I think (according comments) you now already know how to perform this procedure. Lots of pleasure flying.

  • If you get messed up in the soft grass environment it really should be a crash.

  • Flame out is really risky procedure. There are manuals on the web. Like your approach but I think it was a bit risk to engage airbrake at that moment just before touchdown. AoA on approach is 11 degrees( at the top of the basket) correct, at touchdown 13 degrees alright. You landed at the excact place of the runway reverse but doesn't matter. If the brakes don't work you should use I think the fuel cutof lever ont he throttle-stick. and joystick full back (aerobraking).

  • Next time get a clearing before landing! LOL!

  • @Ben55607 On the contrary, the lowered gear produces a lot more drag. To test it : fly level at a steady speed bellow (300 knts), without touching the throttle, lower the gear and stay level. I'm sure your gonna slow down.
