Emmy award-winning director Fran Rzeznik of Guilford has created a remarkable and compelling film, Marriage Makes a Word of Difference, which portrays the personal struggles and political challenges of Connecticut's same-sex couples and their families who are fighting for the freedom to marry. Many of these loving couples have been in committed relationships for more than a decade, but despite their dedication to each other, they continue to be denied the respect, dignity, and legal protections that marriage provides. Through compelling interviews and archival and "slice of life" footage, Marriage Makes a Word of Difference celebrates our common humanity, and shows why marriage equality is a fundamental civil right.
There should be no "benefits" that go with marriage. Naturally, single people finance those benefits disproportionately. Gay or straight, go have a little ceremony, do whatever you have to do--but leave the government out of it. It's an antiquated institution that represents an old line of thinking. "Stand by your man/woman" no matter what is antiquated rationale that is no longer applicable. I'd rather align myself with what's right than take permanent legal vows.

Equality, exactly! I also have two dads, and I certainly wasn't harmed by it. Children are only harmed if they have abusive, neglectful, unstable, and/or unhappy families. Gay people are just as capable of providing loving, supportive, caring homes as straight people.

Timothy, I really don't think you know what you're talking about. I have two gay dads also, and my brothers and I are grown up and in our twenties. There's no reason why gay men (and lesbians) can't raise perfectly happy, healthy children. We're just as likely to be well-adjusted, productive citizens as people raised by straight moms and dads.

I was molested at 13 by a known homosexual in town.
its a horror I'll not soon forget.
He got less than a year in jail, and is still living in my home town.
I had to move away, because I dont want to run into him.
Protect children from homosexual "marriage"!!
FRH!

Its quite obvious you do not know gay people. We are far more sensitive than hetrosexuals. We can be a mother and father all rolled into one. I can build a house and cook a gourmet meal and still clean the house or change the oil on the car and teach respect and love to a child.

MARRIAGE EQUALITY FOR ALL!

A child doesn't care who its parents are. It just wants its parents to love it and care for it! So pederast parents are ok?!?!?!
NO!
and why compare two homosexuals to two abusive people!!?
If I said I was against littering (and I am) would you say "Well, it better than an OIL SPILL"? duh!

I so wish all this energy were put into the progression of the way we institute healthcare, child care, and property rights, and we stop shackling people with legal contracts that, the majority of times, fails due to the frailty and mutability of human emotions.I hope this doesn't sound too bitter, pessimistic, or cold, for, in spite of my personal beliefs, I have always supported the equal treatment of ALL people.

Marriage is antiquated institution, and should be banned from human society. WHAT could be more inane than LEGALLY binding affairs of the heart!?! Instead of fighting for such a destructive, limiting, and corrosive force in human affairs, the normally progressive peoples in same-sex relationships should put their significant intellects behind the progression of human institutions, not vesting in one that has endlessly and statistically failed its participants.

The fact that some people remain so ignorant, about what gay marriage means or that they will cause some sort of sexual deviance to happen to a child is ridiculous. A child doesn't care who its parents are. It just wants its parents to love it and care for it! I would have rather had two moms that loved me then straight parents who couldn't care less and were physically abusive. THAT IS REALITY. I lived it. Sure sometimes things get better, but sometime the best thing is adoption.
