If you look at the "Chromoplastics Installation" manual on their site (it's the same as the one included with the fenders), they actually show the "front mudguard shackle" being connected behind the crown of the front fork, not in front.

Have you done it this way too? I think the fenders are cut to work better that way, to minimize spray on to the bottom bracket.

@NoJake We have done it both ways. And I agree, mounting it in back does give the most coverage, but with this particular bike having 650b wheels it would be too close to the ground and maybe scrape. This bike also has caliper brakes that attach with a recessed allen bolt and the fender tab can't be sandwiched by that bolt.

Great vid. Made shorter work out of my SKS longboard installation. Couple of suggestions: 1. mount the black spoke end caps before mounting the fender. They go on easier. 2. Measuring the stays for cutting is inexact at the moment you do it, so leave 'em a bit long. You can always trim them.

The technique shown of bending the front fender tab, of handling the stay bolts as a unit, and of crimping the bridge is really helpful. Worth it for that alone.

Man, for such simple devices, these fenders do eat up some hours on install!

Note to SKS in Deutchland or America: your fenders are great, your directions not so much... How much effort would it take to make a better instruction set? Save your future customers a few minutes of needless frustration and, at the bare minimum, at least label your parts list. A slightly more detailed instruction set wouldn't hurt, either.

For those with cantilevers, am I right in thinking that the nuts to attach the fenders to the front and rear brake holes are not included? I searched the mountain of parts, and they didn't seem to be there.

Also, what have people been using to cut the stays themselves? My meaty pliers were no match, wondering what I should try next.

Awesome video. I'd given the installation of my longboards a go, and put it off because it was more complicated than I wanted to deal with.

@RivBikeWorks Yeah, I was wondering if there was anyway to have rear mounting on, say, 700c wheels with the recessed bolt. Maybe with a spacer and a different bolt, but seems like a lot of trouble just to get a little extra coverage.

Thanks for the video, it definitely helped me with mounting these on my bike, though the disc brakes still managed to offer a challenge not covered here. Just needed to make a few bends...
