The dancer is Claude Vulpian. She is one of the least celebrated of the Paris Opera etoiles, and by todays standards of high legs, and multiple pirouettes some may over look her grace and refinement in this simple, and human representation of the ephemerality of life. this remains a favourite of mine since the first time I saw it 15 years ago.

Magnifique chorégraphie et sublime danseuse. La musique : on croirait du éric Satie.

Wow... wow!
What a beautiful piece :)
I saw this on television over ten years ago and have wanted to see it again ever since. This is Art Nouveau in movement. I've seen many, many ballet performances in person and this is one of the loveliest pieces I've ever seen. It is so simple, like The Dying Swan, but even better in my opinion. I'm watching it over and over. I would like to find information on this ballerina. Probably she no longer performs but I would so love to see her do this in person. Thanks SO MUCH for posting this

There are a few of her in performance on here )YouTube). She does the Karsavina role with Manuel Legris in Spectre de la Rose.
