@SaRa212387 you have most of that right .. the painting is not hauted neither the artist was mentally ill ....Edvard Munch only was just very frightened of thing so they painted things that was scary to him , ah the things you learn in art class haha

the reason they say that it's haunted is because the artist was said to have suffered from mental illness, that ran in his family. this painting is supposed to represent the pain, suffering and isolation that he felt from it. they say that it's him screaming in agony and insanity. i don't think it's the painting that's haunted per say, but it's more the feelings behind it, and the artist that are haunted.

How is The Scream haunted? What effect does it have on those who look at it, other than catching the interest of them and making them wonder why the figure is screaming?

when I was in high school in the late 1960s early 70s.....a bunch of us in art class were all looking at this painting in an art book. Someone just happen to be looking through a book and stopped on that page. We all looked at it and FREAKED OUT. We had never seen such an odd painting, we instantly LOVED IT
