Tweed Deluxe cranked with 1968 Gibson 335. No pedals. Dry audio from Cubase SX2.

Signal chain:

Sennheiser e906, DIY Teletronix La2a Compressor (acting as mic preamp), DIY Pultec EQP-1a

AKG 414/TLII, Revolution Redd.47 Mic Preamp, Purple Audio MC76 (Kit)

Amp:

Narrow panel Fender 5e3 circuit. Ampeg mod, low-pass mod, vintage Gretsch output and Valco power transformers, NOS tubes, some cap value changes. Celestion Alnico Blue speaker.

  • I like the vintage ones... creamier

  • Vintage Deluxes are over 5K these days and reportedly plagued by blown (undersized) output transformers. Better, for me at least, to build my own and not worry about pushing it.

  • @1Doz The best part about these amps is that if you pick very lightly, you can still get clean sounds when the amp is cranked to 12. But then you can pick a little harder and sound like Joe Walsh. And even harder and you get the nasty (in a good way) Neil Young sound. Plus the volume controls working together so you can have more or less distortion. And 4 inputs, so even more distortion control and there's a tone control. Very versatile amps.
