On a warm, muggy morning in July, Island Grown Initiative (IGI), a non-profit, is helping local backyard farmers feed their families. Michael Pollan, who came to see the process, discusses the importance of a mobile poultry processing trailer made possible by Island Grown Initiative.

Not everyone wants to be a vegetarian. Not me! And as an omnevorie, I know that to eat meat, an animal must die. I know the pretty packaged meat in the grocery store use to be a breathing creature. This is life and you need to let others lead their own

What a crock! Humans do not need meat
protein in their diet. You seem like intelligent, educated people I think you
should harness and focus your resources
on educating yourselves on a meat free
vegetarian diet. Vegetarians live longer
more healthy lives. Free yourself of the
notion that humans need to consume meat. Eating the flesh of a animal is
barbaric and quite frankly stupid!
