This is a kind of music enjoyed by those with failing hearing.
The reason is not so much the tune itself or, even, the words (if you know them). Mainly, it is the "shape" of the tones used to make the sound.
Here you have rounded tonal shapes, that is, more tibia-like or sinusoidal. These are gentler on the fragile, aging ear. If you hear some elderly person despairing over the "music our young people listen to today," please keep in mind that this person's ears may no longer be capable of absorbing the complex (and marvelously intelligent) tonal makeup of modern music.
He or she may not have the foggiest idea of what you hear.
The difference is in pace, rhythm, nasality and a number of other things. In fact, research on hearing is far from complete.
