The Carizzo Gorge Railroad near Jacumba, CA where Interstate 8 crosses the tracks. Built in the early 1900s by San Diego millionaire John Spreckels, this railroad is also called The Impossible Railroad because of the steep, treacherous mountain terrain through which much of it passes NE of this portion in the video. In that mountainous area is the Goat Canyon Trestle. It is a 200-foot high, 600-foot long curved wooden trestle spanning Goat Canyon and happens to be the tallest wooden trestle in North America. It is very remote, very difficult to get to, but would be well worth the trip!

@TheDeputation Didn't even know they had a railyard there. I was more interested in the tracks heading toward the desert and the Goat Canyon trestle.

It would be a nice scenic train location to consider.

That was a consideration a few years ago, but the funding or manpower to make that happen never got off the ground. Recent reports say that the railroad, which was bought and re-opened a few years ago by a rail company for freight traffic, is now once again basically abandoned due to financial difficulties, etc..
