  • This album and videos by Seamus Murphy, are the most compelling I have ever heard and seen. They complement themselves perfectly.

I cant get by a day without listening to it. It;s like a good book, but better.

Polly, your aim to write music to your words to depict England and its history and people has been achieved perfectly

This album is easily in my top 5 off all I have collected over 38 years.

It makes me sad and happy at the same time. Pure Brilliance

  • Shes gotta whole lot of genius in her - Progressive artist.

Love her and other leftfield uk acts like Radiohead, Massive Attack, Gary Numan, Tricky, Scroobius Pip, Ghost Poet, Allflaws

  • @ricchardo me, too. like that theme of war, lost and grey england, tho i am not from england. been there one time and i think its different then germany. well, what are her other cds about lyrical-wise. love?

  • @ZLUGGO Only this, her latest album is preoccupied with war - She's actually NEVER written about war before. You must be a newcomer to her if you think that. Try "To Bring You My Love" which is my personal favourite Polly Harvey album ;-)

  • Why does she always write about war?

  • @rifatbaba1 me too beautiful sad and true - a generation who knew suffering beyond (far) what we know in western europe and the usa.....

  • genius

  • This song makes me teary-eyed. I think of old men sitting in equally old chairs. Gnarled hands folded on their crooked laps, recounting their war experiences to their Grandchildren.

  • Sad, beautiful and wonderfully English.

  • @bgk777 just do it!!!!!!!!!
