@kowhatu Maori culture exists only in a ritualised state, it is the invention of modern part Maoris and is the revised, censored remnants of an extinct culture. Your culture from the clothes you wear to the house you live in, to the food you eat and to the language you're using in this forum is a Western European culture.

Our culture has survived in spite of the laws that were passed in the 19th and 20th cnetury where our healers were suppressed through a govt act ( Tohunga suppression Act) our language stamped on ( my mother was beaten as a 5 year old for speaking the Maaori langauge at school) and so on. We are intensely passionate about our culture and protect in for our children, many maaori feel as I do, I cannot speak for those ( Maaori or other) that bring shame to our proud spirtual culture and heritage.
