Laga Handbags was started in order to provide long-term sustenance for those surviving the 2005 Boxing Day Tsunami in Banda Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia. Today, Laga continues to be handmade in the province of Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia by more than just tsunami survivors.
Here is a demonstration of how our Laga handbags are made, one at a time. Started with just 12 women sewing on non-electric foot-operated sewing machines, Laga founders are dedicated to growing this project to include the goal of 1200 people.
Thank you for your support!
