Removal of the Integrated Heat Spreader(IHS) from the RSX gpu package. Solving overheating related issues.

This procedure can be carried out whilst the BGA package is on the motherboard, but we prefer to carry this out once the chip has been lifted.

  • Have you come across a way to remove the actual 4 ram chips from the RSX?

  • @DxtBrent Hi can I use Arctic silver 5 for the middle?

  • oh i used Thermal compound for it but my ps3 works again

  • @DxtBrent

the white stuff is thermal adhesive a is a bitch to get off as seen on this video. if you have to take off the heat spreader i recommend buying artic silver alumina adhesive compound to re glue it on after your reflowing. the 4 chips on the sides are the gpu's memory and thats where you use the adhesive compound. use regular non conductive compound for the GPU in the middle.

  • The withe things are they thermal compound ?
