This is Zip (and me) at the 2011 Holiday Classic MQHA show on 12/11/11...this was the Nov. Am. HUS class. We got 1st under all three judges (out of 5). He is too short strided here and not really reaching down enough but under the circumstances I was pleased.
Zip was only ridden a few times in the two weeks before this show and it was freezing. The footing was terrible--when you see him pick his head up, it's because he's stumbling in the dirt. This was the second day of the show, after a night in a stall with a concrete floor, and he was a little sore, I think. I was really pleased with his behavior the whole weekend. He picked up a lot of good placings and points in the novice classes on Saturday--western and English--and then again in all the English classes (novice and amateur) on Sunday. We left after that...it wasn't fair to him to make him do several more hours of (western) classes when he was tired and sore and cold. We were circuit champs in this class and in the Nov. Am. Eq. We'll be ineligible for both next year.
