It has taken me a long time to really appreciate this, at one stage i thought it monotonous! what i really want to say though is the translation of the original french words is not good, rarely close to what Brel himself sang; even the title of the song is incorrect, ne me quitte pas means do not leave me which is a much more emotional sentiment. yes Scott does it justice but for raw emotion you have to watch Brel

@sferemonk Clint Eastwood western?? This song is as far away from westerns as Belgium/France is from America.

One of the most beautiful love song ! i did not like brel's voice but scott's voice is just perfect for this song ! by the way did you know that this song was written by brel for his mistress (Suzanne Gabriello) who left him because he didn't want to leave his wife . He said that song was the song of a "coward" !

Brilliant version.. i must say one of the best i´ve heard..with plenty of sorrow and despair you can feel it in his voice.. that is how this song has to be sung!!

this is soooooo fookin´good...
Amazing... I've heard all from Jacques Brel to Nina Simone, to Sinatra, and apart from the original (Jacques Brel), this is better than anything out there.

I prefer the french lyric. Jacques Brels 'Ne me quitte pas' rips your heart out. But Scotts rendition is pretty good. I just wish he'd have stayed with this genre; it fits him like a glove! But if the man's happy doing his avant guard stuff, well...so be it. As far as I'm concerned 'The Electrician' is the only listenable thing he's done in the last 30+ years....oh well - maybe 'Dutchess'. I do admire him though; a man who's true to himself. He won't sell himself out.
