Most drum review sites will give you a written review, but we like to provide a sound file, too, when possible. This kit is Tama Imperialstar drum set, a very nice kit for the serious beginner or the drummer looking for an upgrade from an entry level kit. For the full review, visit drumsetguide.com.

All Drum Set Guide sound checks are performed without drum miking. We use the Zoom Q3HD. Checks on comparable kits are performed in the same environment whenever possible. This doesn't replace hearing drums live, but it is a good basis for comparison.

  • i have this set and my snare head just broke what do u think would be the best replacement head for it remo or evens are the ones im looking at any suggestions?

  • @DPuddin023 It depends a lot on the kind of sound you want. My site has a section on the subject that you check out. Visit drum-set-guide and click on "Tuning Your Set." There is a section on drum heads. Remo and Evans both make good heads; just depends on the sound you want.

  • Does the Tama Imperialstar New Fusion sound pretty much the same, cause that's the one I think I might be getting.

  • @TannerCookMusic Hi Tanner, If I'm not mistaken, this is pretty much a previous version of the same kit. The "fusion" refers to the tom sizes. On the current configuration, which is called "ready to rock," the tom sizes are 8 x 10, 9 x 12 and 14 x 14. Those are fusion sizes.

  • @TannerCookMusic Correction: The floor tom that comes with the 22 inch bass drum is 14 x 16.

  • ive got this baby, just put new heads on it today and it sound great

  • @DanDeePee Cool. What kind of heads did you go with?
