This video shows how I repaired the clock in my 2005 Toyota Corolla. These instructions should work for a 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, or 2008 Corolla. There is a common problem with the clock in the Toyota Corolla that causes it to stop working intermittently and then eventually not work at all. The problem is caused by the solder on some of the joints on the circuit board. The fix is to touch up those joints with a soldering iron. This video contains instructions for removing the clock, fixing the solder joints, and reinstalling the clock.

  • Seriously man THANK YOU!!!!!

  • Worked on my '03 Corolla S. Thanks!

  • Thank you so much. It worked perfectly on my 04 Corolla.

  • thank you - worked great on my 2004 corolla also!

  • This worked GREAT. I was hesitant since I wouldn't want to tear up my wife's beloved car. Had no problem and I'm no electician. $9 for a narrow point soldering iron and some patience getting the face plate out - the tabs held it in tight so I had to pry a little and pull harder than I was comfortable with, but it just snapped out. I spent more time getting the face off than the entire rest of the project. THANKS!

  • Fantastic. Whole job took about 20 minutes. Thank you!

  • 2004 Corolla clock had this problem. Added extra solder and worked perfectly. Thanks!

  • Just fixed my moms 2005 Corolla. I was able to just heat up the solder that was already there and it fixed the problem. Thanks for the video help.

  • very cool video. i like the simple narration. you made pictures better than a video

  • Great video. Fixed my issue. THANKS

Under magnification the solder joints of these resistors looked solid and fine. These resistors are much bigger than most electronic components and therefore lot of solders. Also, all the solders on all the components have a glue coating for increased reliability. So, don't think adding extra solder helps. The heat during the soldering process might be helpful.

The issue could be the cable plug as well. Just unplugging and plugging it back maybe enough.
