What you're viewing is Leg 1 of the 2010-11 season, a passage from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas. I hope you will consider joining.
Let us teach and share over 15 years of sailing knowledge on passages that will impart skills and deliver confidence to you. This passage will prepare you to confidently pursue a cruising lifestyle. It's our goal to provide a safe, enjoyable learning experience for sailors that have enthusiasm for adventure.
The Crew Members on Leg 1 2010-11 will enjoy a downwind run along the Baja Peninsula participating in the 17th annual Baja Ha Ha. An excellent opportunity to make new friends and meet other Cruiser's many whom this event initiates a Cruising Lifestyle, planned years in advance.
The Baja Ha Ha is a major Sailing event on the West Coast, over 2000 boats have participated. There are two planned stops during the entire passage, first at Turtle Bay and the second at Bahia Santa Maria.
The Crew for Leg One will get the opportunity to meet and learn from other Cruisers at these stops. And having participated before I can tell you they are a lot of fun.
During these passages we will provide an environment for learning by doing. This is a full participation learning event. The crew will get the opportunity to do all the activities necessary for the safe operation of the vessel not limited to steering, hoisting sails, trimming sheets, keeping watches on a rotation, making log entries, and navigation. Each day several hours will be spent on instruction. On your arrival a bound outline of instruction will be delivered, to take notes on and review along the passage.
You will get a firsthand look into Cruising on a well maintained cruising vessel. You will have the opportunity to learn many if not all aspects of a Cruising lifestyle without purchasing a boat. Or if you already have a sailboat and are planning your own Cruise you will gain valuable insight on how you may want to prepare your own vessel, prior to purchasing equipment. You will learn at sea and on anchor what may be important for you. This boat is not out of reach for most people, it will show you that an affordable boat can be safe, seaworthy, and fun to sail. You will gain confidence in your ability to make passages and help you to better understand the Cruising Lifestyle.
