Blackpool Transport Leyland Olympian TL11 A704 YFS

This is Blackpool Transport's Leyland Olympian A704 YFS fitted with a Leyland TL11 engine A704 YFS, seen operating on Route 20 in Blackpool. This bus was new to Lothian in 1984, and amazingly is still in daily use on core service in Blackpool.

@peterthegrate1 Yep, there's loads still in service! Blackpool is most definitely the place to go if your a fan of 'proper' Leyland Olympians! Just wish I lived nearer!

@MarkeatonLord You are quite right! A quick look on Flickr shows that there were actually 3 batches, most still in use! The buses were from the XAU-Y, XCH - Y and A-DTU batches. Unfortunately the best I have is a fairly general depot shot, but there are plenty of good photos on flickr if you type in Trent Leyland Olympian! Annoyingly, you can't post links on youtube comments!

@bristolvrboy If I remember rightly they have several ex Trent vehicles lurking around up in Blackpool, I'm not sure which ones though sadly.

@MarkeatonLord There's plenty still up there! Around 15 are still owned and are used on core services, easily one of the best places, if not THE best place for Leyland Olympians today. First time I'd ever been on a Leyland TL11 engined Olympian, so was definitely something different. Stunning sounding engines, and apparently this is one of the not so good ones! I can hardly imagine anything better.
