Illusion of Gaia - Boss Battle Castoth

We face the first boss of the game, Castoth. I used to think that he was the hardest boss of the game, but he's not (I reserve that honour for the Vampires and the Mummy Queen). But he's really simple, and it's a dodging game. Use Freedan (there's a reason why you are given a chance to transform into him), and when the battle starts, start hacking away at that left hand. Then go and start hacking away at the right one (five hits each). Once they are gone, start dodging the fire lines and the bouncing ball until Castoth's eyes open. Then position yourself against the wall in front of him and start hacking away! When he begins to violently shake, move up behind him, and you'll avoid the lasers that shoot from out of him. Continue until he's dead.

Yes, this is a relative short video. I really didn't even need to use the herb. I had to do this again because I forgot to get a red jewel in Oakton, and those times, I didn't need the herb. I'll have plenty for those vampires, though.

i just brought this game a few days ago for £20 and im at this boss now! i think its a hard boss as i've ran out of herbs! where can you get more?

Sadly, you can't get any more. Herbs are at set places in this game, so you need to be careful with this boss. If you are using freedan, you can kill him quickly, and stand by the bottom corners to avoid getting hit by his lasers. Other than that, you'll need to practice. There are much more annoying bosses in the game!

I beat this guy (and all the others) with Will while taking no damage. Difficulty (in my opinion) as follows:

1. Solid Arm (Jeweler Gem)

2. Castoth

3. Vampires

4. Mummy Queen

5. Megapede

6. Viper

And though I didn't get to him yet, I have to agree with your number one boss. I had a hell of a hard time beating Solid Arm in "Soul Blazer", and what's worse, you fight him as Will! Even with the slide technique I've seen used, it's still bloody annoying.

How the fuck are you only losing 1 heart everytime you're hit? Im trying like crazy to beat this guy but I lose like three hearts everytime I'm hit. Plus I got through like 3 herbs. WTF!?

@InfernusKnight it's all gravy man I've long since beat it. I think I just got lucky and somehow outran his ass after 50 trys.

Had no fucking clue you got a defense bonus after wiping the floor clean of baddies.

@StanleySweet14 You probably left some enemies alive and thus didn't get the defense bonus you get for clearing certain rooms. Getting 5 gems also nets you another. BTW, if you used 3 herbs on him you're screwed and need to start a new game. You won't beat the boss rush at the end of the game without all the herbs you can get. Bottom line - resort to resetting before you use a herb.
