  • Agreed with loves7895 - new AS41 cases are pretty cheap.

Classic symptoms of water in the 'case. You can try to clean it up (hot tank, but do NOT abrasive-blast it!) and reuse it, but with that much corrosion? I think you have a rather fine, if ugly, paperweight.

  • Water had got into the engine. I bought a new case just to be on the safe side. Thanks

  • I agree, thanks

  • Hey bro, i realy preciate the sub, i sub'd back!! When i was bout 6 my dad got killed in a car reck but bfor he that ye always had a bug in tha garage tinkering with it! So i realy enjoy ur channel, brings back memories!! Keep em comming man!! Thanks again!!

  • what's idling in the background?

  • Good thing you bought a new case. With that corrosion around the sump plate, it will leak quiet a lot.

  • I hope you get this one running, you definatly have your work cut out for you...

  • If the case is original vw, then it would be made from magnisum. it is repairable but the repaire would be very costly. Considering that ypu can buy a new or reman case for only 3 to $500.00. the beter choice would be to buy a new or remann case. the heads would be able to be repaired also but easier to just to exhange them. This way there wil be no wories.

  • im not an expert with beetle engines. but if this was in my bug then id say it so far gone to rebuld. i would probs try and find a gd cheap engine. much easier
