I think if I had kneaded them longer and actually let them rise a little more that they would have made fantastic hamburger buns. I am going to be making these again, for sure.
From Taste of Home
Ingredients 2 tablespoons active dry yeast 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons warm water (110° to 115°) 1/3 cup vegetable oil 1/4 cup sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon salt 3 to 3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Directions In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add oil and sugar; let stand for 5 minutes. Add the egg, salt and enough flour to form a soft dough. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 3-5 minutes. Do not let rise. Divide into 12 pieces; shape each into a ball. Place 3 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Bake at 425° for 8-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool. Yield: 1 dozen.

They taste great, but I should have made much bigger buns. I ate them as rolls. Very good.

  • @tashag426 If you want it light and fluffy, you should let it rise. It was nice ... but it was heavy. Very nice for a roll with dinner

  • 2 tablespoons of yeast ? 1 package is about 2 1/4 tsp.

  • @CookingAndCrafting OKay thanks I will definitely do that! I cant wait to make them for our cookout this weekend :)

  • The fact that you are adding the recipes to to the link is real cool and important.

so I'll be back to your site to check it out but about the 40 min. Gimmick, it's something else, since you must let your dough double itself for 1st rise at room temp. which is generally about 1-1.5 hours and then after shaping your buns you'll better let it seat for 20 min. more and then you'll see a great difference for the better, and only just then comes the baking time.

    Baker at large.

  • @DJKJSeph thanks :)
