I laughed when my dad told me that Michael Crawford was Phantom of the Opera....I just listened to his cd and was expecting a 'early one morning just as the sun was rising....' or even 'there was a man who bought a cat...'

I fell in love with the show on You Tube and bought an all-region DVD player so I could buy the entire series on DVD. Michael Crawford is an absolutely brilliant comedian - a real genius. It's not just his physical ability (holy cow, the stunts he does are incredible - I can not believe he actually went under that truck), but everything else as well. He literally inhabits the character of Frank Spencer to the point where you can't find any trace of Michael there at all.

This isn't the funniest scene of the entire series, the deleted scene in moving house was. ( The entire tar barrel incident with the Sikh couple uncut) It can only be viewed on Gold as the BBC refused to allow it to be aired, even on the DVD release.

The 1970's was the best decade for British comedy, yet of all the superb stuff we saw - this is the one that people keep referring to. My only regret is that with today's technology the sequence could have been even longer!! Michael Crawford is a national treasure.
