BMW R1200RT Police Bikes

This video is a slow walk through checking out the four BMW R1200RTP units that the Ocala Police Department just purchased. The four motorcycle officers came to pick up their bikes and they were all really excited! BMW R1200RTPs are manufactured specifically for law enforcement use. They have heavy duty alternators, extra batteries, run flat tires - plus a whole bunch of installed accessories, lights, sirens, and equipment mounts. All in all each one takes about 4 hours of labor and about $3,500 in accessories to complete. These will also get painted with the Ocala PD logo before you see them on the road. Trust me....this bike will keep up with anything on four wheels. It's all about the skill of the rider and police officers' are some of the very best riders out there.

I'm surprised they don't use sportbikes like a honda cbr1000rr since they'd be able to keep up with anything on the road
