Before she moved to Hong Kong and became known during the 1950s as "Miss Color Beauty" (because she appeared in more color movies than any other Hong Kong actress), Chinese American Lai Yee (麗兒) made three Hollywood films under her birth name Marianne Quon. In this one, made in 1943, she plays a student in war-torn China.

  • The movie is called "China" and stars Alan Ladd and (in clip) Loretta Young and William Bendix. Worth your time if you ever get the chance.

  • Yeah, it's a pretty great film, and features a veritable who's who of Chinese American actors.
