So amazingly touching - the story of Shirley and Jenny, two crippled elephants reunited at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee after a 22-year separation. The bonding was immediate, intense and unforgettable between the two former circus elephants. But long after the cameras were turned off, the wondrous moments would continue...

We need to think about the next time if and when we decide to go to the circus...as long as there are circuses...elephants will be chained.

i am sobbing... how could (can) people be so cruel... the scars... the deformities... it's beyond me...

This is why people shouldn't attend circuses or aquariums...these animal's lives are stolen and then they are beaten and broken...please don't support those who confine animals and use them for entertainment... pass on zoos, aquariums, circuses, and rodeos...

Oh wow, this is such a touching story, I was so immersed in it I didn't want it to finish, so I will check elephants[dot]com and see their stories - it's like life stopped for a wee while - thank you britches 1985.

What is their story during the 22 years of separation...they have some awful scars...what happened to them to be so beat up? It breaks my heart...they look like they have endured a lot of suffering

@mariamtoure1 Yes, they had horrific lives before retiring to The Elephant Sanctuary which is why they are so scarred and lame. It is indeed heartbreaking. Go to elephants[dot]com and look up their stories. Jenny has sadly passed away since this video and so is in theIr In Memory section of Meet Our Elephants, Shirley is in the Asian Elephants section.

This made me cry. I can't believe that this poor Elephant was chained and alone for 20 years. Bastards to abuse Elephants.

@HippieGirlClaire Oh yes, made me cry too, I could have filled buckets!! The reunion is so moving but it also makes you feel so sad and very angry too at what humans did to these majestic creatures for so long!!
