A former waist gunner in WWII, Jim Khougaz returned home to start a renowned career in hot-rodding. In 1946 he reached an astonishing 141.95 mph at El Mirage, running on alcohol fuel. He built this particular 32 Roadster for dry lakes competition and it has since been immortalized in various paintings and artworks associated with the era. While its fit and finish were second to none, much of this roadsters success was attributable to the streamlining effects of its stunning hand-crafted belly pan, the workmanship of which continues to impress. Beautifully restored, it even retains its original SCTA plate affixed to the dashboard, and would complement the most distinguished of hot rod collections. The opportunity to purchase this historic hot rod will happen this September 26th in Los Angeles, California when RM Auctions holds the Icons of Speed & Style event at the Petersen Automotive Museum.
